Getting Started

All actions to be performed from the MainWP Dashboard

The Weekly Review of MainWP ASANA task should mirror the actionable steps in this task.

Syncing

Force a sync on all sites

Click “Sync Data with child sites”. Note any sync errors.

Resolve any sync errors

If any errors arise, please first check the knowledge base. If your question isn't answered there submit a ticket to support@simplebusinesssolutions.org

Backups

Ensure all sites are backing up

Normally this would automatically update in the sites overview

For each site that doesn't update:

  • go to the site's overview by clicking the overview button

  • click on "updraftplus backups"

  • click on "existing backups"

  • recheck the sites overview

If any errors arise, please first check the knowledge base. If your question isn't answered there submit a ticket to support@simplebusinesssolutions.org

Ensure that there is minimal local storage being taken up wherever possible

You can go into each site’s settings to check. Any site over 750MB should be reported. (BEGINNER)

For SBS-Hosted sites, you can

  • Use cPanel’s Disk Usage tool and sort by most disk usage and drill down into the directory listing to ensure thatl large files are not being taken up by backups (INTERMEDIATE)

  • Use Telenet and the `du` command (ADVANCED)

Updates

Ensure all sites are updated

You should be able to tell if sites need updating by referencing the Update Overview section of the MainWP Dashboard.

Click “update everything”

If you receive the “Full Backup Required” prompt

  • verify that each site listed actually does have a full backup (sometimes this notification can be a false positive)

    • Go to the site’s dashboard

    • Click Updraftplus Backups

    • Click Existing Backups

    • Looks for buttons in the “backup data” column that are “database” “plugins” “themes” “uploads” and “others”

  • If the site does not, manually process each site to ensure there are no errors or hangs in the backup process.

    • If any errors arise, please first

      • go to sites>manage sites and:

        • click "update" in the third column of each site that has updates remaining. Be sure to sync after each update, even though it should automatically

        • click "open wp admin" in the third column and run the updates manually from the site

      • If the issue still can’t be solved, please check the knowledge base. If your question isn't answered there submit a ticket to support@simplebusinesssolutions.org

  • Re-attempt the plugin update

    • If you’re sure that the site’s files have been uploaded in the past week, click “ignore”

Note any errors.

Note that some theme updates may trigger errors.

These updated errors can be ignored, but should be noted.
